A Socio-Psychiatric Research on The Korean Adolescent




Abstract
This is a study of 127 high school students who were selected by their teachers for the purpose of diagnostic utility or relevancy of `MPI profiles. `Cases, who were selected by their teachers in terms of 5 categories that has previously been selected by our psychiatric department, are consisted of 65 honor students and 62 problem stndents, aged from 15 ,through 20.
¢¥The summary of the results were as follows.
1. The results of validity scales were as follows;
The problem, especially urban male students, showed higher T-score in the F profile(56. 3) than the honor student¢¥s score(48.7).
2. The results of clinical scales were as follows;
(1) The problem showed higher T-score in the Pd and Sc profile which suggested psychopathic behavior trait than the honor¢¥s score.
(2) The problem showed higher T-score in the D, Hy and Pt profile which suggested neurotic trait than the honor¢¥s score.
(3) The Hs profile was elevated in the urban and the male students, who were suffered from much conflicts, suppression and frustration.
3. The results of research scale were as followe;
It was showed that the anxiety Index was elevated. in the male student and the Internalization Ratio score in theurban students.
4. The standardized MMPI was not only ¢¥useful in the diagnosis and prognosis of the
psychiatric illness but also helping to discriminate between the honor and the problem.
5. For the statistical analysis of M N¢¥IPI findings according to students evaluation criteria by Korean teachers, it was revealed that the 61 items including the Si and Pt scales among the 383 questions of MMPI were able to discriminate personality pattern between the honor and problem students in Korea.
